Bungaraya Island Resort, Borneo

A laid-back boutique hotel and spa in this secluded tropical island paradise. Bungaraya is the Malay word for 'hibiscus', the country's national flower. There are 80 species of hibiscus planted on the island, alongside other herbs and flowers in the gardens. Bungaraya's powdery white beach, rainforest backdrop and endless crystal clear ocean views will ensure guests will feel miles away from the real world.

The hotel has 48 villas in the resort starting from 70 square metres in size, dotted around offering lots of privacy for couples or families. Each private villa is rough-hewn and hand-crafted by local tradesmen, terraced into the hillside reflecting the traditional simplicity of the Borneo architectural style. It blends seamlessly with the comforts and needs of the most sophisticated and discerning luxury traveller with private balconies offering jaw-dropping vistas of the beach below and the South China Sea beyond.
